Fabulous writing and I presume a personal expose? One must avoid caffeine and alcohol as both may cause sleep disorders.Do me a favor and take a look at my article on this site, titled;"Demonic and Spirit Attachment Self- Remediation Techniques", as insomnia is a signature symptom of having picked up some psychic chewing gum(or dog poo) on your shoe sole(soul) and get back to me if you have any more of those listed symptoms, besides insomnia; Affection; Paul SchroederOK, so now I'm curious! I'll be sure to check out your article Paul. Thanks for reading and commenting. (I do drink coffee and alcohol but try not to over-indulge most of the time.)If insomnia is indeed such a troublesome and pernicious syndrome that makes you nuts, then you must give up alcohol and caffeine, totally, at LEAST for a few days to see if that's the irritant 'pea' in the princess' 'mattress' that keeps you tossing and turning; both are notorious causation agents of sleeplessness, in many people.I have cut back on caffine, but I hear ya, I should cut it out completely. I don't consume much alcohol but then again, if I want to sleep perhaps I should try cutting it out all together. Thanks for the advice Paul.Sorry if my articles scared you; they are the resultant of wrestling with problems so troublesome that they demanded creative and insightful remediation. How can one fight something that one can't see? It's not totally improbable that others like me are also so troubled and thus my acquired knowledge and writings can assist them, as well.I thank God that people like you exist, who (in this case by virtue of your writing) betray rare human qualities , clearly both delicious and effervescent: Paul Schroeder
Brinna, my heart aches for you. I have a similar problem and your words evoked feelings of understanding and empathy. I hesitate to offer a solution--you must get so sick of hearing them. However, what works for me (mostly) is a couple of Simply Sleep pills and a book on tape. I listen to the story (with tiny headphones) and it allows my "busy brain" to focus on something mindless. Within an hour, I can fall asleep. When I wake during the night, I plop the headphones on and start over, usually falling back to sleep within 30-45 minutes.I never get sick of hearing suggestions from people who are just trying to help Maureen. I"m glad you found something that works for you and I"m sure I will too. I've had a couple of good suggestions now from you and from Paul. Thank you for your advice, I really do appreciate it.
Hi Brianna.... will list a few ideas here (been there and done that myself) I cannot do any caffeine any time or I will not sleep. They have found some of us have a gene that means we don't excrete caffeine like we should and then don't sleep (and can cause heart attacks too). Equal amounts of calcium and magnesium in the evening can help. Benardryl fixes me for 4 hours if I ware up after 4 hours of sleep so I can get another 4 with relatively little "hang over". 2 advil and a benadryl help if I am really desperate and are not habit forming. I am not sure about melatonin - didn't do much for me. Keep us posted. You can wear out too fast without enough sleep time! Enjoyed your writing! MarijoThanks Marijo! I have tried Advil and it has helped on occasion. 'No caffine' seems to be screaming at me. Damn, and I was just going to make a tea. But there's no time like the present to give it a try. I will keep you posted. Thanks again I appreciate the advice. Many delicious herb and decaf teas - another warning - coffee may say decaf and that does not mean it is 100% decafienated - I know from BAD experience. I really like and apple cinnamon Celestial Seasonings tea and their lemon zinger - some flavor and none of that AWAKE stuff. Hiping you find something that works - you can! Also, for menopausal stuff there are natural things that help. I went from that sleeplessness to one caused by my overactive thyroid without a breather and didn't figure out the thyroid for a time - talk about AWAKE (my thyroid was hyperactive and I might have been but my body was dead tired. I can sure empathesize with you!) I can't spell either but you get the drift. Marijo
Good article but I pitty your husband.I also have difficultly sleeping at night, but for some reason I have no problem sleeping in the day. I just accept it now and, where work and life allow, I'm nocturnal. As a kid I used to get out of bed at 4:00 in the morning and go for a run. I love the night and its empty streets. The moment the sun comes up, however, I climb into my coffin and fall asleep.I never attempt to sleep during the day, because I'm not ususally tired. Then again I'm not very tired during the night either. There are times I think I may as well go to the gym at 3 a.m. since I'm awake anyways. I usually hold off until 6 a.m. Who knows Andy maybe one of the suggestions I receive here would work for you too. Thanks for reading and commenting. Also welcome to SearchWarp and thanks for joining my fan club! I am going to check out your website, interesting name.
I feel for you. I have it but not nearly as bad. I found I am hyper sensitive to anything that might be a stimulant. I can't even eat a piece of chocolate after lunch. That seriously bites. Coffee or Tea; out of the question. So here's my trick. Go to Puritan's Pride web site and order a product called Insomnia Relief. It's dirt cheap and, at least for me, it works. They aren't addictive and don't leave you in a haze the next day. They're worth a try.Best of luck,SteveYou're right about the sleeping pills, they do leave you in a bit of a haze the next day. I'll be sure to check out the web site you mentioned. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment Steve.
